Actress Gwyneth Paltrow reportedly wanted to keep her split from singer Chris Martin private.
The 41-year-old 'Iron Man 3' star apparently wanted to keep her split a secret but Martin, 41, insisted on breaking the news, reported New York Post.
Sources have revealed that Paltrow wanted people to believe her marriage was fine but the 'Coldplay' frontman felt it was wrong to pretend and ignore the problems.
"It was his idea to announce the split. They had drifted apart, and there was no chance they would get back together, so he felt it was wrong to keep pretending," said a source.
The former couple, who have a daughter Apple, nine, and son Moses, eight, were in the Bahamas when the news of their separation was announced.
Martin was recently spotted without his wedding ring at an event.
