To maintain law and order, and ensure communal peace and harmony during the forthcoming festive season, the District Magistrate today convened a meeting of officials at the collectorate here.

The meeting of the officials was convened ahead of Eid, Raksha Bandhan and 'Kanwad Yatra' in the conference hall of the collectorate.

Keeping in view the past violent clashes between Kanwadias and the public, the administration has chalked out a blueprint for deployment of police and other forces at strategic places in communally sensitive areas and also on the national highway passing through the district to face any eventuality, DM Vimal Kumar Sharma said.

District police chief Dharmendra Singh has asked police officers and SHOs to remain on a 24-hour vigil and be well- equipped with body protectors, helmets and other riot control equipment till the festive season ends.

All sensitive areas in the district have been mapped out and police stations have been asked to round up anti-social and communal elements.

No miscreant shall be spared irrespective of his caste creed or religion and political status, the officer added.
