Hailee Steinfeld in talks for STX's coming-of-age film

"True Grit" actress Hailee Steinfeld is in negotiations to join STX Entertainment's coming-of-age drama.

Previously titled "Besties", the story revolves around two high school girls, who are best friends until one starts secretly dating the other's older brother.

Filmmaker James L Brooks is producing the project to be helmed by Kelly Fremon Craig, who has also penned the script.

The film marks Craig's directorial debut.
