Haryana procures over 64.56 lakh tonnes wheat

Over 64.56 lakh tonnes of wheat has so far arrived in various grain markets in Haryana during the current procurement season.

The state has procured over 58.57 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

Stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said that the government agencies have procured 64.53 lakh tonnes wheat, whereas, 2,779 tonnes have been purchased by traders.

He said that HAFED has purchased highest 25 lakh tonnes of wheat, followed by over 17.88 lakh tonnes by Food and Supplies Department.

Similarly, Agro Industries Corporation has purchased over 5.71 lakh tonnes of wheat, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 6.32 lakh tonnes, CONFED 1.62 lakh tonnes and Food Corporation of India 7.98 lakh tonnes during the current procurement season so far.
 

He said that district Sirsa was leading in the wheat arrival where over 9.46 lakh tonnes wheat had arrived in the mandis, followed by Fatehabad with 7.03 lakh tonnes.

The spokesman said that farmers have been asked to bring dry and properly cleaned wheat in the mandis so that they might not face any difficulty while selling their produce.
