Hasina condoles Ronen Mukherjee's death

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed deep shock at the death of Ronen Mukherjee, a veteran writer-journalist of West Bengal, and described him as a "true friend" of her country.

Mukherjee, who authored, "Ami Mujib Bolchhi", a book on Hasina's father and independence architect of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, died in Kolkata this morning.

In a condolence message, Hasina described Mukherjee as a "true friend" of Bangladesh and said he used to love very much the people of this country.

"He was also an ardent follower of Bangabandhu and his books on Bangladesh's Liberation War and "Ami Mujib Bolchhi" enriched Bangladesh's literature and history," Hasina said.
 

Hasina conveyed her profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
