Hasish oil worth Rs 10 million seized

About one kg of hasish oil worth Rs 10 million in the international market has been seized from three persons in the city, police said.

The trio were on their way to Mumbai with the contraband when they were nabbed.

Police, acting on a tip off on movement of a large quantity of the oil from Idukki to Mumbai, kept watch and approached them as buyers yesterday and arrested them when they offered the contraband for a price.

The three reportedly told police during questioning they had purchased the oil for Rs four lakh in Idukki and were taking it to Mumbai to sell it to a friend.
 

Police claimed the man in Mumbai had close links with the drug smuggling racket in that city.

They said charges had been framed against the arrested under various sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act, 1985.

They were produced before the court yesterday and remanded to custody, police said.
