Hazare, Bhayyuji Maharaj visit Kopardi

Social activist Anna Hazare and spiritual leader Bhayyuji Maharaj today visited the Kopardi village in the district and met the family of a minor girl who was brutally gang-raped and murdered some days ago.

On the occasion, Bhayyuji Maharaj donated two buses with CCTV cameras to the village, as local people were reportedly afraid of sending their daughters unescorted to the school after the incident.

Hazare, in a statement earlier, had demanded a severe punishment for the three accused arrested in the case.

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by three men at Kopardi village in Karjat taluka in Ahmednagar district last week. The incident had sparked a massive outrage.
