The Calcutta High Court today adjourned the hearing of an application for cancellation of bail of Minister of State for Railways and Congress MP Adhir Chowdhury in connection with a murder case.
A division bench comprising Justice Nishita Mhatre and Justice Indrajit Chatterjee adjourned the hearing till December 3 and directed both the state government and Chowdhury to file affidavits within that time.
The hearing was adjourned after the court was informed that an application for anticipatory bail of Chowdhury was pending before the Baharampur District Court and its hearing was scheduled on November 28.
Currently the minister is on interim bail granted by the Baharampur Court.
Chowdhury, a Lok Sabha MP from Baharampur Constituency, has been accused in connection with the murder of a Trinamool Congress supporter.
