The Allahabad High Court today declined to quash an FIR lodged against former BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj for his alleged involvement in murder of a school principle in Etah.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Ravindra Singh and Justice Anil Kumar Agrawal disposed of the petition filed by Maharaj and others, named in the FIR lodged at Kotwali police station of Etah, subsequent to the murder of a woman on April 15, refusing to intervene in the matter.
The accused had challenged the FIR lodged against them alleging that they had been falsely implicated in the case.
The murdered woman was said to be an estranged supporter of Maharaj and it has been alleged that the murder conspiracy was hatched at the instance of the godman-turned-politician.
The court, however, directed that if the petitioners appeared before the court concerned within 30 days and filed an application for bail, the same be decided "expeditiously".
