HC dismisses PIL seeking probe into DSP's death

The Madras High Court today dismissed as withdrawn a PIL filed by former DMK Minister Subbulaksmi Jagadeesan seeking a direction for a CBI probe into the death of a 27-year-old woman Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice T.S. Sivagnanam, before which the PIL came up, told counsel for Jagadeesan, saying: "You are not a relative....If the aggrieved family members file then it is okay."
The counsel then said he was going to withdraw the petition following which the bench dismissed it as withdrawn.
Vishnupriya, DSP of Tiruchengode in Namakkal district, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on September 18.
