The Allahabad High Court today dismissed a Public interest litigation ( PIL ) petition seeking a direction for controlling the hike in prices of onion, pulses and other essential food articles.

The Court's Lucknow bench said that the petitioner may approach the concerned authorities of central and state governments for their grievance by way of representation.

A division bench of justices Shree Narain Shukla and Akhtar Husain Khan passed the order on a PIL filed by a local lawyer M L Yadav.

The petitioner alleged that the price of onion reached Rs 60 per Kg and Arhar Dal(pulse) Rs 150 a Kg in Uttar Pradesh, which is beyond the reach of the poor people. Hence, this price hike should be controlled.
