The Madras High Court today dismissed another plea seeking permission to protest against the Chennai-Salem greenfield highway project.
In the plea moved by A V Thangavel of Tiruchirappalli, the petitioner submitted that he was a social activist and sought the court's direction to the police for permitting him to stage a one-day token fast at Valluvar Kottam here against the project.
Refusing to concur with the submissions, Justice T Raja said the court had dismissed a similar plea yesterday.
"Therefore, this petition is also dismissed on the same reasons," the judge said.
Observing that the proposed project would benefit people, the court had turned down a petition by the Tamil Maanila Congress seeking permission for holding a public meeting against the Rs 10,000 crore project on July 8.
