Madras High Court bench here today dismissed a petition filed by a former Superintendent of Police seeking discharge in an assault case filed against him.
Justice Ardhanariswam Arumugasamy rejected the petition stating that the accused cannot be discharged at this stage and the issue should decided by the trial court.
However, the Judge dispensed Manoharan, now posted as SP of Special Task Force, from personal appearance before the trial court.
Police had registered cases against the four police officials including Manoharan for allegedly assaulting the MLA K A Samy during bypolls to Tirumangalam Assembly constituency in 2009.
