The Madras High Court today expressed anguish over erection of banners on main roads here to publicise the visit of BJP President Amit Shah to the city, causing hindrance to pedestrians.
Sitting in the first bench, Chief Justice Indira Banerjee said she herself saw the banners erected from the airport to Santhome area, causing hindrance to the pedestrians and sought to know how officials allowed them.
When there were regulations for erection of banners, why should not those be implemented, she asked.
She further said action should be taken against those who erected the banners in violation of the rules.
Tamil Nadu Advocate General Vijay Narayan assured of taking action against the violations.
Shah was on a one-day visit to the city recently during which he addressed party workers on the city outskirts.
