The headmaster of as school at Benapalli in Odisha's Ganjam district was arrested for allegedly outraging modesty of a Class VIII student in the school about three months ago, the police said today.
District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Chairperson S Panda had lodged an FIR against Pramod Swain, the headmaster of Gopinath Swami Bidyapitha, following which he was arrested on Friday.
District Collector P C Chaudhary had directed the CWC to inquire into the matter, the police said.
The accused denied the allegation saying some vested interests are trying to tarnish his image. He also sought an impartial inqiry.
