The headmaster of a school was arrested for alleged misappropriation of funds given under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) to the school at Jamalpur in Burdwan district, the police said today.
The police said Bishala Chandra Roy, headmaster of Panchra Sagar Chandra Rakshit Smriti Vidyamandir in Jamalpur police station was arrested last night for siphoning off more than Rs 7 lakh.
He was arrested after an FIR was lodged against Roy at Jamalpur police station yesterday from the SSA cell of the district magistrate's office.
