The vigilance sleuths today arrested the headmistress of a government-run upper primary school on graft charge.
"Subasini Sahu, headmistress of Nayakote U P School, in Khurda district has been arrested for demand of illegal gratification of Rs 6,000 from a complainant Pramila Majhi, president of Trinathdev SSG, Paikarapur for issue of cheque for payment of dues of SSG for Mid-day Meal programme," an official release said.
A case has been registered against Sahu under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

In course of investigation a trap was laid by vigilance officers of Bhubaneswar Division today.
"The accused headmistress was caught red handed by the officers in her office while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs 6,000," the release said.
The bribe amount has been recovered from Sahu, it said adding "Her hand and handbag wash gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of the bribe.".
