Heatwave claims 58 lives in Telangana; toll reaches 186

The intense heatwave in Telangana today claimed 58 more lives, taking the death toll to 186 in the state.

"186 persons lost their lives in 10 districts of Telangana as per information available till 5 PM today," a senior official of State Disaster Management Department, told PTI.

Nalgonda district recorded the maximum number 55 of deaths, followed by Khammam district at 43 and Mahabubnagar district at 23, the official said.

In Hyderabad, two persons have died due to heatwave.

The toll is registered from April 15 in Telangana, the official said.

Khammam district had recorded a maximum temperature of 48 degree Celsius on Friday.
 

As per information available till last evening, as many as 128 persons had died in Telangana due to severe heatwave conditions that continued to prevail in the state.

According to India Meteorological department, severe heatwave conditions are expected to continue till Monday in all 10 districts of Telangana.
