Heavy rain lashed many parts of Odisha today because of a Well Marked Low Pressure (WMLP) over the Bay of Bengal, even as the Met department here predicted more downpour tomorrow.
Several areas in Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Balangir, Nuapada and Nabarangpur districts were pounded by downpour as the low pressure over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a WMLP, the MeT office here said.
Rain accompanied by thunderstorm also lashed Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Balasore, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur and Bargarh districts, disrupting normal life in many places, sources said.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Sambalpur and Boudh districts tomorrow, MeT office said in a bulletin.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea for two days due to rough weather.
