Heavy rain, lightning affect rly signalling system

: Heavy rains and lightning paralysed the signal system in Srivilliputhur railway sector today, causing more than one hour delay in operation of trains, officials said.

They said the Shencottah-Madurai Passenger train was stopped two km away from Srivilliputhur for one hour and twenty minutes as the signal went out of order.

The train which stopped at 5:25 PM resumed its onward journey at 6:45 PM after the signal was set right, officials said.
