The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) today asked the industry to submit a set of recommendations for drafting renewable energy policy in the state.
HERC Chairman R N Prasher asked industry including hotels, hospitals, government buildings etc to co-generate electricity from renewable sources, especially to tap the roof top solar energy.
Addressing a seminar on 'green growth - renewable energy opportunities in Haryana' at Gurgaon today, he said that he had requested the state government to provide suitable measures for connectivity with the grid and sale of power through distribution companies through Net Metering.

Prasher further emphasized that stand-alone solar plants are not a very successful model rather roof top solar should be promoted in the state.
Co-Chairman, Regional Committee on Power Reforms and Renewable Energy, Vikram Hans emphasized that HAREDA must incentivize green buildings and provide grid connectivity to roof top solar energy and promised that CII will provide the crucial recommendations for draft policy for renewable energy, including Net Metering at the earliest.
The state government has also created state energy conservation fund (SECF) and an amount of Rs two crore has been earmarked as revolving fund for providing interest free loan for energy efficiency investments.
