Hero MotoCorp shares down nearly 2% as August sales plunge

Shares of country's largest two- wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp today fell by nearly 2 per cent after the company reported a 13.97 per cent decline in sales in August.

The stock dipped by 1.76 per cent to settle at Rs 2,343.25 on BSE. During the day, it lost 3.46 per cent to Rs 2,302.70.

At the NSE, shares of the company ended 1.89 per cent lower at Rs 2,338.70.

Hero MotoCorp yesterday reported a 13.97 per cent decline in sales at 4,80,537 units in August.

The company had sold 5,58,609 units in the same month last year, it said in a statement.
 

Commenting on sales performance, Hero MotoCorp said: "The festive season this year will begin almost three weeks late as compared to last year, and this shift in season is also reflected in the subdued sales in August vis-a-vis the same period last year.
