Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today granted Rs seven lakh to kin of each of the nine people who were killed in a hooch tragedy in Malihabad area in January this year, an official spokesman said.
"The chief minister presented cheques to nine persons and directed that they should be given houses under Samajwadi Lohia Housing Scheme and covered under pension scheme," the spokesman said.
Total 38 people had died in the hooch tragedy in Lucknow and its bordering Unnao district, after which the state police launched a state-wide crackdown against sale of spurious liquor.
