The engine and two bogies of a Jaipur-bound train from Mysore got detached from other compartments near Gauribidanur station today, a senior police official said.
The incident happened one and a half kilometers away from Gauribidanur railway station in Chikkaballapur district, where passengers noticed that their bogies, barring two, had detached from the engine, Chikballapur SP N Shiva Prasad told PTI.
"The hook that connects second compartment of the train to the third one had delinked, thanks that the train was moving slowly and there was a curve due to which people noticed the separation. Had been the train moving in its normal speed it could have derailed," he said.
The train had total of 24 bogies, he said. "No injuries have been reported, railway officials got into action soon and cleared the train for further travel," he said.
