Huawei builds data storage center in Guizhou

Smartphone maker Huawei today began the construction of a massive data storage center in China's southwestern Guizhou province which will be used to store the technology firm's management data from 170 countries.
The center will also serves as a training base for its global IT maintenance engineers, college interns and experienced employees.
The Qixinghu data storage center, with the first phase of construction covering an area of 400,000 square meters and installation of about 600,000 storage servers, will be used to store Huawei's management data from 170 countries.

The provincial government of Guizhou signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei in November.
Both the parties agreed to deepen cooperation in big data application and cloud computing, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Guizhou is China's first pilot zone for big data. The technology is being widely applied in government management, business and daily life.
