A man was arrested by the city police here on charges of allegedly killing his wife by strangulation.
Police said one Debi Prasad Tripathy (32) has confessed after being arrested yesterday that he murdered his wife Pragyan Paramita on Monday night at their Badambadi residence.
"Preliminary investigation showed that the couple had an estranged relationship and were at the loggerheads ever since their marriage. The inquest of the body too suggest that the cause of the death could be strangulation", said local ACP Seetaram Satapathy.
While the husband was working in a private bank, the deceased wife was a State Government employee, police said adding that further investigation is on as the deceased's family allege involvement of some more persons in the incident.
