I-T officer sentenced to 10 yr imprisonment in graft case

An income tax officer was today sentenced by a special CBI court in Dehradun to undergo imprisonment of 10 years with a fine of Rs one lakh for taking a bribe of Rs five lakh.
CBI spokesperson R K Gaur said Arun Kumar Ranjan, then Income Tax Officer, Rudrapur, was caught red-handed taking the bribe in 2014.
Gaur said CBI had laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from the complainant.
"After trial, the designated court found the accused guilty and convicted him," he said.
