I was never kicked out of Atomic Kitten: Kerry Katona

Kerry Katona said her band Atomic Kitten might have hung up the boots but she was never chucked out of the group.

The 37-year-old singer took to Instagram to "set the record straight" where she claimed her "favourite newspaper", The Sun had published a false report, saying she was forced to perform a track by the band at a recent show.

"I just want to set the record straight. There's a report in s**m... The Sun, my favourite newspaper today that I have been forced to sing an Atomic Kitten song... I have not been forced, it's my idea to hold a gig," Katona said.
 

The musician added she is "proud to be a part" of Atomic Kitten.

"No one will ever take that away from me. I was never, ever kicked out of the band. The three of us decided to knock it on the head. We have so much more lined up as individuals next year, which we all want to concentrate on," she added.

Katona was one of the original core group members, who was replaced by Jenny Frost in 2001 was believed to have been asked to leave after a "drunken incident at a personal appearance" last month.

As per reports, she, in an inebriated state, had called her bandmate Natasha Hamilton a "toxic c***" while out at a personal appearance in Manchester.
