As many as 22 ancient idols were stolen from a Jain temple in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh early Thursday morning, police said.
Unidentified thieves broke into the first floor of the temple at Achrouni village, about 75 km from here, and decamped with 22 idols of Jain Teerthankars, police said.

The idols were made of 'Ashta-dhatu' (eight-metal alloy) said Sub Divisional Officer of Police R P Mishra.
District Superintendent of Police Rajesh Hingankar rushed to the spot upon getting information about the theft, he said.
A sniffer dog squad has been pressed into service to search for the thieves and probe is underway, he said.
