IED recovered from Saranda forest

Security personnel have recovered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from the Maoist-affected Saranda Forest in West Singhbhum district, a senior police officer today said.
Acting on a tip-off, the security personnel comprising of CRPF and district Armed Police launched a search operation between Bitkilsoya and Noigaon villages under Jaraikela police station on Saturday, said Superintendent of Police, N K Singh.
The security personnel detected the IED weighing 40 kg planted underneath the road to target them, Singh said.
Besides the IED, they also recovered a country-made rifle from the spot, he said adding the IED was defused in the forest.
