IIM-L to help reserved category candidates prepare for CAT

"This exercise will help all the IIM's to get quality students from the socio-economically deprived categories. It will also be an incentive for brilliant students from these categories to dream big, focus their energies in a constructive manner for socio-economic upliftment," IIM-L Director Devi Singh said.
After many discussions, a workable road map evolved where it was decided that in the pilot phase around 40-60 promising students (belonging to SC/ST category) who are amenable to management studies from colleges around the state capital would be selected, he said.
They will be then groomed and coached for two-three months by some external professional agency which has an expertise in CAT training and IIM-L would pay for all expenses incurred in the form of fee of the trainers.
IIM-L will have no role in selection or training of these candidates and would neither have any influence on any CAT related process, Singh said.
For CAT 2012, IIM-L has selected Team Satyam as its preferred vendor to select and prepare a batch of 50 SC/ST candidates taking the test this year and also groom these candidates for the next stage of Post Graduate Programme in management admission process.
Initially this project would be restricted to Lucknow region (but the candidates can be from any where in India) for the purpose of easy monitoring and evaluation.
