The I&B Ministry today asked newly inducted Indian Information Service (IIS) officers to develop specialised communication strategies and tools for successful implementation of government's various flagship programmes.
Speaking at the valedictory function of induction and training of IIS 2013 and 2014 batches, I&B Secretary Bimal Julka said the role of the IIS officers was critical in meeting this challenge as it enabled bridging of the gap between people and the government.
Bridging the gap between the people and the government is a major challenge which the information service officer have to meet, he said.

Julka asked the officers to develop "specialised communication strategies and tools" for successful implementation of various flagship programmes of the government such as Prime Minister's Jandhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Beti Bachao and Shramev Jayate Karyakram programmes.
He also asked the officers to be tech-savvy and keep pace with the rapidly changing information and communication scenario. The challenge is to respond swiftly and firmly on real-time basis, he added.
