Ila Patnaik appointed principal economic adviser in FinMin

Noted economist Ila Patnaik has been appointed Principal Economic Adviser in the Ministry of Finance.

"The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared her name," a senior finance ministry official said.

Patnaik, who is currently RBI Chair Professor at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, replaces Dipak Dasgupta.

She has done a Ph.D. In Economics from the University of Surrey in the UK.
