Altogether 98 illegal structures were demolished during an eviction drive within railway land at East Yard Colony in Dimapur, official sources said today.
SDPO Niuland, M Lotha pointed out that a majority of the 140 illegal structures earmarked for eviction were served notice a week ago as those were commercial outlets.
He however said that some of them obtained stay orders because of which the demolition could not be carried out yesterday.
Dimapur Railway Station has been selected by the Centre as a Model Station, however Nagaland Railway Contractors Union (NRCU) for the past 14 years have been aiming for development of Dimapur Railway Station but failed to do so because of illegal stay order produced by the occupants.
