Illegal unit sealed; four taken into custody for questioning

A illegal unit allegedly engaged in the manufacture of adulterated tea packets and banned tobacco products at the government industrial estate here has been sealed and four persons taken into custody for questioning, officials said today.
District Health Officer Anuradha said election officials seized some adulterated tea packets and ten tobacco bags from a van during a vehicle check on the Salem-Bengaluru road,last evening.
The driver on being questioned told the officials that the tea packets were from an unit in the industrial estate, officials said.

Police and health officials raided the unit and found adulterated tea packets and tobacco products worth Rs ten lakh.
Three persons from Rajasthan and one from Delhi have been taken into custody for questioning, officials said, adding, the unit has been sealed.
