Impersonators dupe merchant of Rs 46,000

Police are on the look out for two persons who had 'seized' Rs 46,000 from a potato merchant impersonating as election officials, police said today.

The merchant was returning from nearby Palakkad after selling potato there, when the two waiting near a jeep with 'election urgent' sticker pasted on it, stopped him at Ukkadam for searching him.

The duo took away the amount and asked to take back it after providing valid documents.

Based on the complaint, police are looking the wo, polcie said.
