India to cooperate Mongolia in renewable energy sector,HR devp

India will cooperate Mongolia in developing its renewable energy sector and human resources development.

"The two sides agreed on the issue during a meting between New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah and Mongolian President Tsakhia Elbegdorj at Ulaanbaatar today," a ministry release said here.

Abdullah is in Mongolia to represent India at the oath taking ceremony of Elbegdorj, who has been re-elected to a second four-year term.

He also handed over a letter of felicitation from President Pranab Mukherjee, lauding the personal vision and commitment of Elbegdorj to the comprehensive partnership between India and Mongolia and inviting him to visit India.
 

Elbegdorj took his oath of office in an impressive ceremony at the capital's Sukhbataar Square. The ceremony was attended by members of Mongolia's parliament and government as well as representatives from several countries, including Russia, Japan, China and France.

Abdullah also met Mongolian Foreign Minister Lu Bold and Minister of Environment and Green Development Sanjaasuren Oyun.

India has close and warm ties underpinned by civilisational and cultural linkages with the predominantly Buddhist nation. A large number of Mongolians travel to India for spiritual, educational and medical purposes.

Bilateral relations have expanded in the the past few years to cover cooperation in defence and strategic issues in addition to cultural and educational exchanges.
