Indian-American runner-up in Miss Vegetarian contest in US

Following the crowning of Nina Davuluri as 2014 Miss America pageant another Indian-American girl Teena Sukhwal was named Miss Vegetarian runner-up in the Mr and Miss Vegetarian Pageant held in New York.

Pamela Osborn Popp has been chosen for Miss Vegetarian title while Mr Vegetarian title went to Harshil Parekh.

Meghav Parikh has beeb named as Mr Vegetarian runner-up.

More than 40 talented contestants between the age group of 18 and 26, representing over 20 different colleges from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut shared their thoughts on vegetarian way of life and exhibited exquisite talent.

The event was organised by Vegetarian Vision in Long Island on Sunday.
 

Teena is a pre-med student at New York Institute of Technology and a resident of Sayville, Long Island. She is 5.9 tall weighing 115 lbs. Her parents Chandra Sukhwal, a businessman and Kalpana Sukhwal hail from Rajasthan.

Teena has been chosen to represent New York at Miss Jewel US contest in 2014.

Vegetarian Vision, a not for profit to promote vegetarianism, organised the first annual intercollegiate tri-state Mr and Miss Vegetarian Pageant at the Maguire Theatre in Old Westbury in Long Island.

The pageant was organised with the goal of promoting vegetarian way of life among youth and college students in the US, said its Founder and Chairman Harshad K Shah.
