Union Minister of Culture Chandresh Kumari Katoch today said Indian Museum here should become a role model for all other museums in the country.
"It (the museum) should be able to establish itself as a people-friendly destination, an educational hub and a recreational place," she said at a function to mark the 200 years of Indian Museum.

West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan, who is also the chairman of the board of trustees of the institution, said the renovation endeavoured to give the museum a complete makeover without distorting its heritage value, make it a centre for public education and present the history of civilisation in an attractive way.
"We want it to be an epitome of modernity in antiquity. I hope that it will become a place where people can learn and argue about history and culture," he said.
