A 26-year-old Indian national was found murdered near his workplace in the industrial estate of Pandan on the west coast of Singapore, according to a media report here today.

The victim, Suresh Kumar, was found motionless near his workplace on Saturday.

Paramedics responding to a help call reached the spot but later pronounced Kumar dead at the scene on Saturday 10.53 pm local time.

Singapore police have meanwhile, classified his death as a murder, The Straits Times reported.

Blood stains were found at the scene, near a construction site where Kumar was found lying.

The victim suffered trauma injuries to his head and neck, and he was found with a deformity on his left hand, said the daily, citing a Singapore Civil Defence spokesman.

Chinese-language Shin Min Daily reported that Kumar was allegedly attacked but his possessions were not taken.

Kumar has been working with a ship servicing company since 2009.

The company's operations manager Wong Boon Tiong described Kumar as "straightforward and hardworking" man close to his co-workers.

"The company is also in touch with and assisting Kumar's family," Wong said.

Kumar, a single, is survived by a 30-year-old brother working in Singapore and his parents are living in India.
