Indian shot dead by robbers in South Sudan

A 56-year-old Kerala-based top official of a shipping firm was shot dead near Juba in South Sudan by a gang of robbers while he was on a business trip, company sources said here.

The deceased has been identified as Renjith Nelluvelil, CEO of LOTS Shipping Ltd in Kochi, Kerala.

According to the sources, Renjth was shot dead by robbers on May 4 evening while he was travelling in a hired car from Mangala to Juba, capital of South Sudan.

The car driver, a Kenyan, was injured in the incident.

Renjith had gone to South Sudan three weeks ago in connection with a dry-docking project of Tristar transporting company to service three barges.
 

Renjith, who hails from Kannur in Kerala, is survived by his wife and two daughters.

The body is expected to reach Kerala tomorrow.
