A 31-year-old Indian in the UAE have been accused of strangulating his compatriot for not paying rent collected by him to give to their landlord.

The worker, identified only as KF allegedly attacked his compatriot and strangled him in October last year, a court here was told yesterday.

Prosecutors accused KF of premeditatedly killing his co-worker and hiding his body between trees near the Dubai-Al Ain Road. KF, however, denied the charges.

"I did not murder him. I am not the one who committed the crime," said KF when he entered a not guilty plea before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

According to the charge sheet, prosecutors said the suspect repeatedly punched the victim in the face and when the victim collapsed on the ground he strangled him and left his body hidden between trees.

The defendant said he did not know who killed JK but he ran away from the accommodation. "I did not kill him," the defendant was quoted as saying by the Gulf News.
