A 27-year-old Indian woman, who suffered third-degree burns on her chest and face when a fire ripped through her kitchen, has died.

Lubna Labeeb was cooking when the fire broke out in her flat in Jeblat Hibshi, off the Budaiya Highway last Thursday.

Her one-year-old daughter Leeba, who was sleeping in another room, escaped unhurt, Gulf Daily News reported.

She suffered third-degree burns on her chest and face and died at the Salmaniya Medical Complex yesterday.

"I am still in shock," her husband Labeeb Karippkulam said.

"My daughter was in the flat when the fire broke out, but survived."

It is believed the blaze was caused by a gas leakage.
