An injured eight-year-old tigress that had been trapped after it strayed into a village under Kurichiyad range of Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, died today without responding to treatment, forest officials said.
The injured animal, which was moved by officials to Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary for treatment, died at the sanctuary last night, WWS Warden P Dhaneshkumar said, adding the big cat will be buried there.
The tigress was trapped yesterday in a cage set up by forest officials and was later brought to the premisesof wildlife warden's office at Sultan Bathery in Wayanad district.
