Inmate escapes from police custody

An 18-year-old youth arrested in a theft case escaped from police custody today, police said.

Vakil Bind was arrested in connection with a case of stealing laptop and mobile phone, SP Arvind Bhushan said.

However, he escaped by bending the iron rods of the lock-up, the officer said.

The two police officers on duty have been suspended and efforts are on to nab the accused, he said.
