The ad-hoc committee appointed by the IOA to run some affairs of Indian boxing after the federation's international termination will meet here tomorrow for a second time to discuss the possibility of seeking more international tours for the pugilists from the world body.
The six-member committee, headed by veteran administrator Tarlochan Singh, met for the first time last month and finalised the dates for holding selection trials for the Commonwealth and Asian Games.
In its second meeting tomorrow, the committee plans to formalise a letter to the International Boxing Association seeking more tours for Indian boxers to prepare for the two mega-events.
"The agenda for tomorrow is requesting AIBA to allow for more international trips for our boxers. Besides, we also plan to seek permission for conducting the three-star coaching courses for our coaches to get them updated on the latest," the committee's convener Rakesh Gupta told PTI.
"We will also seek updates from the national coaches on how the camps are being conducted. Their feedback would be used to work out the best for our boxers," he said.
"The committee could also take up any other matter which any of the members want to discuss."
Besides Singh and Gupta, the IOA ad-hoc committee comprises national coach G S Sandhu, Mehtab Singh and Kuldip Vats.
After provisionally suspending the IBF on December 6, 2012, AIBA has not recognised any official activities and has not supported the Indian officials for more than 16 months now.
Besides being terminated by AIBA, the IABF has also been de-recognised by the Sports Ministry. The beleaguered body is now waiting for some missive from AIBA, which has invited applications from individuals and groups with a passion for the sport to form a new federation.
