A man posing as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer was today arrested here in North Maharashtra.

Hanumant Arjun Khade (25), a resident of Alandi near Pune, was nabbed when he arrived here for a felicitation function organised by a local coaching class, police said.

The coaching class authorities got in touch with Khade when he put his profile on Facebook describing himself as an IPS officer of Mizoram cadre.

When Khade arrived for the function, some policemen present on the occasion doubted his credentials. They took him to the city police station and started questioning him.

After intense questioning, Khade admitted he was an imposter and revealed his real identity, they added.
