IPS officer transfered following complaint of bribe

The Superintendent of Police at Pathanamthitta, an IPS officer, was removed from the post and transferred for allegedly accepting a bribe, state Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said here today.

Answering a question in this regard at a press conference here, he said Rahul R Nair was transfered based on a report by the state DGP.

"I cannot say more on this matter as a detailed probe by Vigilance is progressing," he added.

There were allegations that Nair had accepted bribe to accord sanction to re-open a closed quarry.
