Iraqi child undergoes bone marrow transplant

One-year-old boy from Iraq, who was suffering from rare blood disorder, was successfully undergone bone marrow transplant at a city hospital here.
Mohd Hakkim Shabhur has undergone a bone marrow transplant at Artemis hospital here four months ago and is now living a normal life, Dr Vikas Dua, who performed the procedure said here today.
Shabhur was suffering from the rare Diamond Black Fan Anaemia in which patient's bone marrow doesn't make red blood cells, and the child was receiving monthly blood transfusions in Iraq, the doctor said.
