IRF suggests Intelligent Transport Systems for Yamuna

Press Trust of India  |  Greater Noida

The International Road Federation (IRF) has suggested that Intelligent Transport Systems (IST) be installed on the Yamuna Expressway to reduce accidents, an official of the Geneva-based body said.

Motorists taking the expressway should also be made aware on safety measures and authorities should ensure strict implementation of speed norms, K K Kapila, chairman, IRF, said at a press meet.

The IRF will be organising the World Road Meeting-2017 in Greater from November 14-17.

"Most users are not aware about the construction of the Yamuna Highway. For such surfaces, the vehicle's tyre and condition has to be checked along with driving conditions including weather and visibility," he said.

"The driving condition on the Mumbai-Expressway and the Noida-Agra Expressway are different than other roads. For safe driving ITS along with strict enforcement of speed has to be implemented," Kapila said.
